Celebrate Success, It's Kind of Important

What did you celebrate this week?
What successes did you see?
Seriously, stop reading. Think.

What can you celebrate? What did your students do?

This was me today. I even threw in a couple of fist pumps!

Chicago Cubs manager, Joe Maddon, tells his team (and anyone else that listens) "never permit the pressure to exceed the pleasure." I kind of feel like he's talking to teachers. But are we listening?

Forget the policies, the politics, the testing, and everyday shennanigans. We're teachers and have take time to celebrate the successes. Sure, this is syrupy-feel-good-to-your-core thinking--but you've got to change your mindset and remember why we do what we do.

Praise your class for 10 minutes of reading stamina!

Reading levels just increased!

6 x 8 = 48...and the whole class knows it!

First time following all the directions...oh yes.
